What inspired this career path for you?
I started redecorating my bedroom as a child at a very early age. At about the age of 6 or 7, I insisted on having my very own Christmas tree in my bedroom to decorate myself — and made it in the local newspaper! I spent any money from birthdays/allowance on buying “decorations” for my room. Decorating is something I have always done. Fortunately, with years of practice and working for someone very talented, I have been able to make a career out of something I have always loved doing!

What is your go-to source for inspiration?
Travel! Not one place in particular. But I love to travel and always take my camera with me. I never know what I am going to find or be inspired by.

Tell us about your creative process.
After meeting with a client, I typically start by shopping, hitting the D&D building in NY to see what interests me and grabs my attention, especially patterns, textiles, and/or papers. I might pop into a few antique shops or carpet places, and I always, always check out my phone and scroll through photos to see if anything I’ve found recently seems right for said client.

Describe your style in 6 words or less.
Colorful, comfortable, sophisticated and layered

What is a staple in your tool kit?
Cotton ticking stripes (in every color of the rainbow), solid linen and cotton velvet, and ALWAYS wallcovering

Who do you look up to in the design world?
POSTHUMOUS: Billy Baldwin and David Hicks
ALIVE AND KICKIN’: Richard Keith Langham and I love Cathy Kincaid’s work

If you could design a space for anyone, what kind of space would it be?
It would probably be a big beautiful, old, rambling house, a second home, and it would be for someone that appreciated textiles, so I could make proper curtains throughout and upholster almost every inch of wall! I am not a minimalist, the more details the better!

What design blog, website, TV show, or magazine would you be lost without?
I don’t really watch any design shows. I do still read my shelter magazines (all of them!), The WSJ Weekender and T Magazine. Long live print! I would be lost without Instagram! There are so many great vendors on Insta now, and I love seeing photos of great projects, past and present.

What do you love about Viyet?
I love to shop for furniture and accessories, and online shopping is a big part of the way we do things now. I love that I live and work in NYC, and although I might not get to hop on a plane to TX or elsewhere to hunt through antique shops whenever I’d like, I am still able to find that bizarre, quirky thing I was looking for through a trusted vendor on Viyet.
